LOFT is a multi-sector furniture provider offering design, procurement, delivery, installation, distribution and removal services to both the retail and wholesale sectors. Their storage site is approximately 100,000 sq. ft. and is split between several sub-units within a larger warehouse.
The Challenge
LOFT approached our experts to explore how robotics and automation could add value to their business primarily through the picking and dispatch process.
The Solution
NERIC’s Technology Consultants worked closely with the team at LOFT to provide a vision of which processes could be automated. LOFT was introduced to the autonomous mobile robot (AMR) which can intelligently navigate towards its destination, tow, onboard storage and lift items. They were also presented with the technical aspects of adopting an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) into the business including the infrastructure requirements, programming needs, cost implications, operational workflows, potential restrictions, benefits, configurations, AMR vendors and the return on investment. Reviewing the robotics and automation opportunities for the business gave LOFT a vision of which processes could be automated and has provided them with a clear understanding of the requirements for integration.
“LOFT are continually exploring innovative technologies to improve our efficiency across our operation.
